Audio enabled ATMs
INDEPENDENT BANKING
Audio enabled ATMs help to increase the financial independence of people who are blind or vision impaired.
Audio machines enable customers to withdraw cash, print account balances and transfer funds.
The audio ATMs are simple to use as the voice message is transmitted privately via the customer's own headphones, and therefore provides independence and convenience without compromising the necessary security for financial transactions.

FINDING THE HEADSET SOCKET
Most of the headphone sockets (jacks) are in the bottom middle section of the ATM.
However some are further on the right and left hand sides. A person who is blind or vision impaired will need to feel around the lower bottom to middle sections of the ATM for the jack.
INSERTING THE HEADSET
Insert the headphones into the socket. This will automatically activate the audio enabling technology. After this step a will beep or voice will be activated through the audio enabling technology giving instructions played through the customer's headphones.
FOLLOWING THE VOICE PROMPTS
A voice will provide instructions to insert the ATM card and request a pin number.
Once the pin number is inserted and accepted, the customer will then be requested to press a number on the ATM regarding which account to be used, such as savings, cheque or credit account.
The customer will then be asked how much money they would like to withdraw and given information on how to do, such as, "If you would like to withdraw $20, press 1".
REQUESTING A RECEIPT
After the cash has been ejected from the ATM, the customer will be asked whether a receipt is required. The voice will inform which button to press to receive the receipt.
After the transaction, the ATM card will be ejected from the ATM followed by the printed receipt.
THE FINAL STEP
The customer will then be reminded to collect their card.
Once the receipt is printed and the card collected, the customer need to simply remove the headphones from the socket.
