Pets As Therapy Dogs
PETS AS THERAPY PROGRAM
During the training period of the dogs, some of their characteristics and temperament can be identified as better suited for other roles like Autism Assistance Dogs or Pets As Therapy Dogs.
A Pets As Therapy Dog provides assistance at a companion level and is temperamentally sound with good obedience, social skills and training.
They have undergone a minimum of 12 months socialisation on our puppy raising program and are healthy and well trained.
FUNDING
Our Guide Dog Program receives no government funding and relies on the generosity and support of the community to provide services.
Our dogs also undergo a significant amount of training and as a result we ask that applicants contribute towards the cost of a Pets As Therapy Dog.
COMMITMENT
Applicants are responsible for all veterinary costs and the health and wellbeing of the dog. They are also responsible for supplying food, bedding, toys and grooming equipment.
