Specialised Smoke Alarm Scheme
"I haven't had to use it yet but it gives me peace of mind. If the sirens and flashing lights don't wake me up, the vibrapad will alert me of fire."
Maria Page, Specialised Smoke Alarm Client
Home fire safety is a vital issue for the whole community. Every home needs adequate smoke alarms and a fire escape plan.
SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES
The majority of home fire fatalities occur during the night because there is inadequate warning to the sleeping occupant.
A smoke alarm can provide an early warning - giving occupants a better chance to get out.
HELP FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAF OR HEARING IMPAIRED
The South Australian Government is providing help for people who are Deaf or have a profound hearing loss and cannot hear a standard smoke alarm. The South Australian Government has recognised the additional costs associated with specialised equipment and, where applicable, is providing funding to assist.
A SYSTEM TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS
People who are eligible for this scheme will receive one Specialised Smoke Alarm System per household at no cost. This includes supply and installation. People are welcome to purchase extra parts - if required - for other rooms.
