Neurological Vision Services
"Someone recently told me they wouldn't have known that I was vision impaired. I'm now catching buses, walking through the city - and this is all thanks to the orientation and mobility training I had with the team at Guide Dogs SA.NT."
Des, Neurological Vision Services Client
We have a specialist team of Orientation and Mobility Instructors, occupational therapists and orthoptists, to assist people experiencing vision loss following an acquired brain injury.
Unlike vision impairment, which may be caused by disease or injury to the eye itself, vision loss associated with brain injury affects the visual messages which are interpreted by the brain.
Training focuses on the impact of brain injury and its relationship to vision impairment.
The team designs individual programs to help people with an acquired brain injury to live safely.
After a stroke some people need to learn how to use their visual skills again. Our programs provide strategies to also help make best use of a client's remaining vision.
