Guide Dogs SA/NT was thrilled to join so many of our amazing volunteers at the Christmas celebration at the Arkaba Hotel, to say a heartfelt thanks for their passion and choosing our organisation to give the wonderful gift of their time.
The Chief Executive Officer of Guide Dogs SA/NT, Aaron Chia, and Chairman elect, John Oliver thanked the more than 120 volunteers at the function, and presented certificates for five, 10 and 15 years’ service and plaques to two new Honorary Life Members.
Volunteering touches all aspects of Guide Dogs SA/NT and is the heartbeat of our organisation.
This year, volunteers:
Lovingly cared for and nurtured our Guide Dog puppies
Made more than 3,000 phone calls to thank our donors
Rang clients to survey their needs
Picked up, emptied and cleaned 3,144 model collection dogs
Mailed out more 12,000 receipt letters.
Aaron said all 320 of our volunteers are part of the rich fabric of Guide Dogs SA/NT.
“We do rely on you to keep us going. After all you outnumber our paid staff four to one,” he said. “You all have your own skills and life experiences which we value immensely. You all bring a little of yourselves to our daily challenges in enhancing the lives of people living with disability.”
