Home Boarding (incl short-term)
Take a Training Dog into your home and heart
Our dogs need people living in specific suburbs in Adelaide who are able to take our Training Dogs into their homes and hearts.
Our Training Dogs are picked up each weekday morning from their Home Boarder so that they can attend Guide Dog School, then returned each evening to their care.
We need Home Boarders who:
- live close to the Adelaide CBD
- have a driver’s licence and a car
- have a secure yard which is accessible to our staff (so they can leave the dog in the yard if no one is home)
- are prepared for the dog to live and sleep inside the house.
How you can help in the short term
We sometimes need short-term care for our dogs or puppies in a caring home environment.
Volunteer short-term boarders look after dogs and puppies on an ‘as needed’ basis, sometimes over a weekend or for several weeks at a time.
Anyone who meets either the Puppy Raising or Home Boarding criteria may apply to become a Short-Term Boarder.
Enjoy the benefits of a well trained dog
Home Boarding is an ideal way for people to enjoy the benefits of having a dog, without the worry of how to keep them occupied during the day. The dogs are well trained and generally well behaved.
All food and veterinary bills are covered by Guide Dogs during the dog’s stay.
