Modified Services Update

Tuesday 31 March 2020

Further to our previous update (25 March 2020), Guide Dogs remains committed to ensuring our clients receive the best possible support and care during these unprecedented changes to our normal way of life.

In order to best protect the health and wellbeing of our clients and staff, we have temporarily suspended face-to-face contact and we’re now providing modified services. Where possible, client appointments will be delivered using the telehealth approach recommended by the Federal Department of Health.

Telehealth services use technology solutions such as email, telephone and videoconferencing to enable us to connect with our clients and deliver our services remotely. We understand this change may impact some clients and we’re committed to supporting you through this period.

While our staff are now working in a remote capacity, we are still available to provide support and answer your enquiries. If you need support immediately, please contact our Client Services team on 1800 757 738 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm) or email support@guidedogs.org.au.

If you have an appointment scheduled with us, we will be in touch with you personally to discuss your options and work together on how we can safely support you during this time.

We also encourage you to stay informed of developments by visiting the SA Health and Department of Health websites.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Guide Dogs and your cooperation in this important matter. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops.

Client Operations Update

Wednesday 25 March 2020

At Guide Dogs, we’re continuing to closely follow the recommendations of relevant government authorities in relation to the containment of Coronavirus (COVID-19) within the community.

We are working hard to ensure we can adapt our operations to deliver continuity of care for those who need it. This means there may be ongoing changes in the way we deliver our services, in line with State and Federal Government directives.

As part of our plan, we have developed safety protocols to protect the health and wellbeing of our clients and staff. These protocols include:

  • conducting telephone health screenings with clients and members of their immediate household prior to any clinical appointments;
  • modifying appointments to support recommended social distancing measures;
  • ceasing all Client Group activities until further notice; and
  • limiting in-person contact wherever possible.

Further to these preventative measures, our staff are currently working in a remote capacity and our office at 251 Morphett Street, Adelaide, is now closed to the public. Please be assured that, while we are not accepting visitors to our office at this time, we are still available to answer your enquiries.

If you need support immediately, please contact our Client Services team on 1800 757 738 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm) or email support@guidedogs.org.au.

We also encourage you to stay informed of developments by visiting the SA Health and Department of Health websites.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Guide Dogs and your cooperation in this important matter. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops.

If you need support immediately, please contact our Client Services team on 1800 757 738 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm) or email support@guidedogs.org.au.

Public Events Statement

Friday 20 March 2020

At Guide Dogs, the safety and wellbeing of our clients, staff, volunteers and supporters is our number one priority.

During the current outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure we continue to follow appropriate guidelines for protecting our Guide Dogs community against transmission of the virus.

In light of advice from the Federal Department of Health and the various State Departments of Health, we have therefore made the decision to cease all involvement in public events until further notice, including our annual Paws Parade celebrating International Guide Dog Day on Wednesday 29 April.

Instead, we will honour the life-changing role of our Guide Dogs, Autism Assistance Dogs and Therapy Dogs with a digital awareness campaign, ensuring we can celebrate with our community while respecting the social distancing measures recommended by health authorities.

We are so grateful for your ongoing support and dedication to Guide Dogs, which enables us to continue delivering our vital services. Thank you.
