The Guide Dogs SA/NT Life Skills Camp continued through the week with a highlight of meeting some pretty cute Guide Dogs.
Many of the camp participants are white cane users but one day may wish to have a Guide Dog as their mobility aid.
The session was all about pats and cuddles and also an experiential walk to find out what it is like to be guided by our highly trained dogs.
Independent living and being able to negotiate a busy city were all part of the activites at the end of the week. A trip to Bunnings at Marion enabled the group to touch, smell and choose herbs for the garden and theyh were expertly potted back at the camp.
Amongst the learnings, it was time to say Happy Birthday to Samuel. Activities have also included how to cook for yourself, tackling the cleaning, finding your own way about and money management.
The camp, which aims to build confidence and break down some of the potential isolation of living with a vision loss concludes today.
