Pets As Therapy
Pets As Therapy Program
During the training period of our dogs, some of their characteristics and temperaments can be identified as better suited as a ‘Pets As Therapy Dog’.
Pets As Therapy Dogs undergo a minimum of 12 months’ socialisation on our Puppy Raising Program and are healthy and well trained. Being temperamentally sound with good obedience, social skills and training, qualifies them to provide assistance at a companion level.
Fundraising gives us a future
As our Guide Dog Program receives little Government funding, we rely on the generosity and support of the community to keep us going. Our dogs also undergo a significant amount of training, and as a result we ask that applicants contribute towards the cost of a Pets As Therapy Dog.
A small price to pay
Applicants are responsible for all veterinary costs and the health and wellbeing of their dog. They are also responsible for supplying food, bedding, toys and grooming equipment.
What else you need to know
